Land & Indigenous Peoples' Acknowledgement
The Trans Equality Society of Alberta recognizes that it's operations in Alberta are held on Treaty Six, Treaty Seven and Treaty Eight lands, the traditional home and meeting grounds of Indigenous and Metis peoples. These Treaties include 45+ distinct indigenous nations and their peoples.
TESA Recognizes that, before European contact, the Indigenous peoples of Alberta had kinship and family networks that honoured gender and sexual diversity in it's many forms. Often those who identified as Two Spirited where chosen as leaders in ceremony and relations between nations and tribes across Turtle Island because of the gift that they had been given to walk the path between two worlds.
TESA recognizes the gift hat the indigenous peoples of Alberta have given us in accepting the Two Spirited individuals in their society and we strive for a day where all Albertan's will recognize and accept Two Spirit and Trans peoples as equals.
